Don’t Sign Anything

This was a bathroom fire.

A lot of people don't really consider until they go through an event, like what do you do first?

From our point of view, the first thing is you always do call someone that stops it.

In this case, fire department, but in our world, it's not always fires. Pipes break, electrical fires, tree falls, call the people that make damage stop occurring. The fire department, a plumber, a board up service, and in this case, they were pretty lucky the fire was contained to one room, so they got to it pretty quick.

Something that's not so great is there are people that come knocking on your door when something like this happens and they say, “I'm your guy! I'm your guy! I'm your guy!

Our biggest tip is don't sign anything for like 24 hours (except a mitigation specialist).

Let yourself take a breath. It's a very emotional moment. My bathroom's on fire. Let a day pass, take a breather.

Even companies like ourselves, restoration companies, you don't need to sign it that day. You can sign it in a week when you start rebuilding.
